On Sunday, May 31, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM, the magical setting of Nova Kraljevica Castle will once again become a place of children’s joy, play, and family gathering. This year’s Children’s Day at Frankopan brings a rich all-day program for children and adults filled with creative workshops, educational activities, performances, shows, animals, science experiments, and outdoor entertainment.

The program will begin with the “Croatian legends” workshop, where the youngest visitors will learn about Croatian legends through fun educational games. This will be followed by exciting experiments by the Traveling Scientists, who are joining us again this year with their always engaging topics that inspire young scientists.

Our regular guests, the Dog Unit team, will host the ever-popular “Dog business” workshop, where children will have the opportunity to learn about proper interaction with dogs, canine emotions, and dog etiquette.

A special touch will be added by the handmade workshop “The Stubborn Wand”, inspired by the Frankopan picture book about Nova Kraljevica Castle. The author of the picture book, Velid Đekić, will also be present.

The Edukido program is sure to attract great interest as children build a medieval castle, towers, drawbridges, and royal halls using LEGO bricks.

Our youngest visitors will also enjoy the “Colorful little cloud” mini zone, a lively disco party with the FunTime entertainment program, and encounters with animals, including donkeys from the Lucić family farm and the Simba attraction, a mini mobile exhibition of unusual animals.

As every year, performances by kindergarten and elementary school children will take place on the stage in front of the castle throughout the afternoon. Kindergarten Orepčići will present the recital “Jubav”, followed by performances from Dance Club Dance Queen and students of the HGD Zvijezda Danica music course, after which Kraljevica Elementary School will perform the stage play “Tonbula”.

Visitors will also be able to watch presentations by the young firefighters of the Kraljevica Volunteer Fire Department and the Rijeka Karting Club.

A special program will also take place on the playground with the popular entertainment show “Ki gre na igre” hosted by Marko Sladić, whose performances always attract large audiences. The evening will conclude with the now traditional puppet show “The Wilful Wand” in the Multimedia Hall, based on the Frankopan picture book created for Nova Kraljevica Castle.

Throughout the day, visitors can enjoy exhibition and STEM corners where Kindergarten Orepčići, Kraljevica Elementary School, and AWKI Toys, a local manufacturer of wooden toys promoting safe and mindful child development, will present their creative work. Face painting will also be available, and visitors can capture memories at the photo booth.

The food offer will be provided by the Forger Food Truck, serving dishes with charming Frankopan-inspired names, along with the craft beers Gajetanska and Škveranka from the Fran Krsto Frankopan tavern. For dessert, Tonkine Fritule will prepare sweet treats, including a special novelty – “fritule à la mendulača”, in support of Kvarner’s title as the European Region of Gastronomy.
