This magnificent edifice since the times of Zrinski and Frankopans continues to charm both locals and tourists and it is recognized as a national cultural heritage site. As a part of the initiative and European project Connect with Heritage, the atrium of the Great Castle has been renovated in 2023, resulting in increased cultural and touristic activities. You can visit this impressive fortress with its two spacious courtyards and a sea-facing façade during various summer cultural events taking place within its historic walls and offering you the opportunity to explore.
An integral part of the Old Town complex is the Church of St. Nicholas, which became a parish church by extension. It is famous for the altar painting of St. Nicholas, the patron of the city of Kraljevica, which Pope Pius VI in 1795, he granted the special privilege of complete forgiveness of temporal punishments (sins) to those who visit that shrine on the feast of Saint Nicholas.
