Construction of the Krk Bridge began in 1976 and it was officially opened in 1980, significantly facilitating the crossing from the mainland to the largest Croatian island – Krk. The bridge consists of reinforced concrete structures and spans a length of 1430 meters, with a height of 67 meters. According to some sources, there was once a wooden bridge at the same location that connected the island and the mainland. It is believed that the same Frankopan family who ruled not only the area of Kraljevica but also the island Krk, were responsible for its construction.
Today, crossing the Krk bridge is free of charge.
