Frankopan Castle in Kraljevica once again became a stage for history, emotions, and togetherness last weekend. This year’s Night of Fortresses brought together numerous visitors who, through a special costumed interpretive tour, had the opportunity to step back into the 17th century and experience the castle from a completely different perspective.
At the heart of the evening was the story of Eva Poppel Batthyany, the nanny of Nikola and Petar Zrinski, vividly portrayed by interpreter Marina Iskra from Šmrika. Through engaging stories from the everyday life of the noble Zrinski family, visitors discovered a more intimate side of one of Croatia’s most important noble lineages and learned how the people closest to them played an important role in shaping their character and values.
The evening’s magical atmosphere was enhanced by a stunning sunset and vanilla-colored sky illuminating the walls of Frankopan Castle, creating a memorable experience that will long be remembered. The great interest and excellent turnout confirmed how meaningful such encounters with cultural heritage are for the local community and for visitors seeking authentic experiences.
The interpretive tour proved to be a complete success, once again showing that history can be alive, emotional, and inspiring when told in the right way.
