For the third year in a row, the event “Ex tempore – Lanterna is waking up” will be held in Kraljevica, in which professionals and amateurs will paint on the spot without preparation in the Frankopan Castle of Nova Kraljevica. This year, the event will be held on Sunday, September 8, 2024, starting at 10:00 a.m.

Participation is free, and registrations will be at Nova Kraljevica Castle on Sunday, September 8, before the start of painting. This year, the theme is fishing and shipbuilding, as it marks the 295th year of shipbuilding in Kraljevica and the recent opening of the Small Museum of Fishing and Shipbuilding Kraljevica, located in the Castle.

You need to bring your painting equipment – paper, canvas, brushes, pencils, paints – everything you need for the painting technique you choose, while the Tourist Board will provide all participants with a chair to sit on and refreshments – a sandwich and a bottle of water.

Painters will compete in several categories, children have two categories – from 1st to 4th grade of elementary school and from 5th to 8th grade of elementary school, while adults, from 1st grade of high school and older, are also divided into two categories – professionals and amateurs. For the first place in the category of professionals, a cash prize will be provided. The painters will paint from the morning until the evening when the winners and the best works are expected to be announced. The best first three places in each category will be announced, and the works will be evaluated by an expert jury consisting of: Bojana Cvejić Zagorc, Nevena Živić, Predrag Znaor and Ivan Tomečak.

After the announcement of the winner, there will be a guitar concert by Natko Štiglić, master of guitar from the Music Academy in Ljubljana, known for his solo opus of flamenco compositions, the world’s best flamenco guitarists, as well as original compositions, film music, classical and ethnic music.

The event is organized by the Kraljevica Tourist Board, with the help of Painting Atelier Tomečak, academic painter Ivan Tomečak, and with the support of the City of Kraljevica.
