As part of the “Summer in Kraljevica” festival, Bakarac will host a one-of-a-kind musical event on Sunday, August 2, 2026, beginning at 8:00 PM. The concert, titled “Gitara pod stražun”, will take place in front of the first fishermen’s hut and the newly installed historic watchtower, right by the sea.
Conceived by Renato Franko, who is also the event’s principal organizer, this innovative programme offers a completely new concert experience unlike anything previously seen in the region. The scent of the sea, the sunset, and the combination of a warm summer evening, open-air acoustics, and acoustic guitars create a unique atmosphere where the boundaries between performers, audience, and nature disappear. The sea becomes the stage, while the gentle waves form part of the musical backdrop.
Visitors will be able to enjoy the concert in a way that perfectly reflects the spirit of the event – aboard boats anchored in front of the floating stage, creating a truly unique audience area on the water that is rarely experienced.
The concert will, of course, also be fully visible from the shore, and everyone is welcome to enjoy the performance from land. However, the concept places a special emphasis on the experience from the sea. Our goal is to create a new audience on the water and encourage more boats to attend, offering a unique way to experience the event while developing this format into a distinctive and recognizable part of the program. For this reason, our communication is primarily aimed at those who will watch the concert from the sea, although the event is open to everyone, regardless of where they choose to enjoy it.
The evening will feature performances by local musicians Zoran Papić, Denis Blažina, and Dario Cibić, along with surprise guest performers who will further enrich the programme and provide the audience with an unforgettable musical experience.
The event’s motto, “Let the waves carry the music, and let the songs unite the shore and the sea,” perfectly captures its vision: bringing people, nature, and music together in a unique setting that transforms Bakarac into a spectacular stage beneath the stars.
Admission is free, and the organizers invite all visitors arriving by boat to come early, anchor safely, and enjoy a programme that has the potential to become a new summer tradition of the Kvarner region.

The event is organized with the support of the City of Kraljevica, the Kraljevica Tourist Board, and the Kvarner Tourist Board, serving as an introduction to the traditional “Tira, Tira” festival, which will take place on Saturday, August 8, 2026. The festival will once again celebrate Bakarac’s rich maritime and fishing heritage through an impressive reconstruction of the traditional tuna fishing technique, accompanied by local food and drinks and live entertainment featuring Tomislav Bralić & Klapa Intrade. On Friday, August 7, 2026, the children’s programme “Mića Tira” will also take place, allowing the youngest generations to preserve and celebrate the area’s cultural heritage and traditions.
