As part of the promotion of the project “Mosaic of Flavours and Experiences of Rijeka and Surroundings”, we were delighted to welcome the team from the popular gastro portal “Tri Trilje”, founded by Ana Ugarković and Rene Bakalović, two well-known names of the Croatian culinary scene, along with Ivan Živković Žika, known to the public as a journalist and director.

The purpose of their visit was to present the gastronomic richness of Rijeka and surroundings and to announce the events that will take place as part of the Kvarner – European Region of Gastronomy 2026 title.

The team visited Rijeka and Trsat Castle, the House of the Halubje Bell Ringers in Viškovo, the Dolčina Agricultural Cooperative in Bakar, the Belica House and the Frankulin cheese dairy, as well as many restaurants around Rijeka. Their journey also brought them to our Kraljevica!

During their visit, our guests explored Nova Kraljevica Castle and its interpretive exhibition, with a special focus on the rich tradition of tuna fishing and the historic tuneras that once shaped the life of this coastal area.

After the cultural tour, the visit continued at Konoba Fran Krsto Frankopan, where they enjoyed tuna dishes paired with local craft beers Gajetanska and Škveranka, both created as a gastronomic homage to Kraljevica’s shipbuilding and maritime heritage.

We thank the “Tri Trilje” team for their visit and interest in our region, and we look forward to seeing their impressions and the upcoming feature that will further showcase the culinary richness of the Rijeka surroundings to a wider audience, as well as the dedication of local restaurateurs who preserve authentic products and recipes through their cuisine.
