The guide “Mosaic of Flavours of Rijeka and Surroundings – A Guide to Experiencing Taste, Tradition, and Nature”, written by Karin Mimica, offers an overview of the region’s distinctive culinary experiences, with Kraljevica holding a special place among them.

The chapter dedicated to our area highlights Kraljevica’s long-standing shipbuilding and fishing traditions, which have inspired local restaurateurs to include “Shipyard Dishes” (Jela sa škvera) on their menus, which are authentic seafood specialties deeply connected to the town’s maritime heritage and way of life.

The guide features Konoba Portić, known for its tuna stew with polenta, as well as anchovies and sardines served with potato salad, dishes that perfectly capture the spirit of the local coast. Freshly caught fish is also part of the daily offering.

Also mentioned is Konoba Fran Krsto Frankopan, located within the historic Nova Kraljevica Castle, where guests can enjoy fish and meat dishes, local craft beers Škveranka and Gajetanska, and traditional “shipyard-style” brunches inspired by local heritage.

The Donkey Farm in Šmrika is highlighted as well, offering visitors a unique nature experience and the opportunity to taste donkey milk produced by the Lucić family farm (OPG Lucić).

Through this project, Kraljevica stands out as a destination where the taste of the sea, local tradition, and authentic hospitality blend into a memorable culinary experience.
