The fact that Kraljevica continues to be an unmissable destination for lovers of culture and fine music was once again confirmed at the opening of the Kraljevica Cultural Summer, marked by the impressive concert “Opera Gala Night”, which last night gathered numerous visitors and classical music enthusiasts in the atrium of the castle Nova Kraljevica – Frankopan.
The evening began with welcome speeches by Kraljevica’s Mayor Dalibor Čandrlić and the Director of the Tourist Board, Jelena Mateševac Skočilić, after which the festival flag was ceremoniously raised, officially marking the start of a rich summer program that will run until the end of August.
Night of pure magic
Throughout the evening, the audience enjoyed outstanding performances by renowned soloists: soprano Kristina Kolar, mezzo-soprano Emilia Rukavina, tenor Igor Vlajnić, and baritone Robert Kolar. Their performances, accompanied by the exceptional piano artistry of Daniela Perković Frleta and under the direction of maestro Frane Frleta, delighted the audience and were met with prolonged ovations. The special atmosphere of the evening was further enriched by the choir of the Croatian Music Society “Zvijezda Danica”, the female vocal ensemble “Lira” from Rijeka, and the klapa “Sv. Jakov” from Jadranovo, who together created a truly memorable ambiance.
The repertoire featured works by Croatian and international composers, with particularly emotional moments arising during the communal toast with sparkling wine to Verdi’s “Libiamo ne’ lieti calici” from “La Traviata,” and the final encore with the legendary song “U boj, u boj” from Zajc’s opera “Nikola Šubić Zrinski.” The performers were sent off with ovations, and the common thread of the evening was — night of pure magic.
Judging by the fantastic turnout and satisfied guests, the Kraljevica Tourist Board and the City of Kraljevica, as organizers, once again fulfilled expectations and delivered an opening night to remember, announcing a rich program of Summer in Kraljevica that will, throughout the summer, include concerts, theater performances, film evenings, dance, wine and sports events, and many other activities for all generations.
