In the impressive setting of Trsat Castle, on Monday, September 15, 2025, the culinary and cultural event “A Mosaic of Flavours and Experiences – Strengthening the Image of Rijeka and the Rijeka Surroundings Gastronomy” brought together numerous visitors, local producers, restaurateurs, and lovers of authentic cuisine.

Organised in collaboration with the Rijeka Tourist Board and the tourist boards of the Rijeka surroundings – Bakar, Kastav, Čavle, Jelenje, Kraljevica, Kostrena, and Viškovo – and supported by the Croatian National Tourist Board, the event showcased the richness and diversity of the region’s food and wine scene. It also served as a prelude to Kvarner’s upcoming title of European Region of Gastronomy 2026.

Our town of Kraljevica was proudly represented with local products such as craft beers Gajetanska and Škveranka, available for tasting at the tavern Fran Krsto Frankopan, and homemade dried figs from Neven’s Green Market.

A highlight of the event was the presentation by OPG Lucić, donkey farm from Šmrika, where visitors had the unique opportunity to sample donkey milk. The musical segment of the program was enriched by performances from members of KUD “Lanterna” Kraljevica.

Ahead of the main event, we participated in a round table discussion held in Nugent Park, titled “Gastronomy – An Essential Part of the Destination”. The aim was to collaboratively explore ways to bring the region’s rich gastronomic and enological offerings closer to both visitors and local communities.

“A Mosaic of Flavours and Experiences” is a reminder that gastronomy is not just food, but a vibrant blend of heritage, identity, and sensory experience.

We invite you to visit Rijeka and surroundings, discover a rich diversity of tastes, traditions, and landscapes, and create your own mosaic of memories!
